RAPEX Rape Trap Causes Outcry

South African women are "taking a bite out of crime" in a most horrific and unacceptable way. Here is the truly disturbing story of a new product being used in South Africa to fight the epidemic of rape and violence against women. The product was reportedly inspired by a rape victim's utterance "If only I had teeth down there"

The product is called Rapex - marketed as the 'rape trap.' It's a hollow, plastic sheath worn internally by women. The hollow inside is lined with rows of razor-sharp hooks, which are designed to latch on to a rapist's penis during penetration. They can only be removed by a doctor.

The product will be on the shelves of South African chemists and supermarkets later this month.

Feminist groups in South Africa are among the most outspoken opponents to Rapex.
"Vengeful, horrible, and disgusting," was the response from Charlene Smith, one of South Africa's leading anti-rape campaigners. Lisa Vetten, of the Centre of Violence and Reconciliation in Johannesburg, says: "This is like going back to the days when women were forced to wear chastity belts. It is a terrifying thought that women are being made to adapt to rape."

Rapex was developed by a South African mother-of-two Sonette Ehlers. While she understands the outrage, Ehlers, is adamant that desperate times call for desperate measures. South Africa has the world's highest rate of sexual assault: a staggering 1.7m women are raped each year. She developed the product especially believes the product especially for poorer black women who walk long distances to and from work.

Robin Steele finds Rapex to be a brutal and barbaric device that should not be necessary in a civilized society. Isn't it better to fight violence with words, with enforcement, to create a societal taboo against those who advocate rape, to skewer them with words of love rather than having to resort to razor sharp hooks that could damage them, physically and emotionally, for life?

The proper response to rape (if it is a virgin, unmarried girl) is to marry her (Deuteronomy 22). That way everyone is happy. The girl's life is not ruined via lack of marraige (due to "damaged goods" bla bla bla) and the man got the girl he wanted.

Now for rapeex. Seriously... I think maybe action needs to be taken against people who invent torture devices (like this) and intend for them to be used. The middle ages was a terrible time, we must make sure we are not dragged back into it.

anonymous: Don't be insulting or stupid.

------------
I've seen articles on the device.

I'm not much worried about real rapists being caught with the thing. I am worried about innocent men being caught in it. Simple forgetfulness can cause some real harm. I'm also worried about device failure leaving it stuck in the vagina.

As for words ... The problem with words is they only work to change behavior if applied properly and smoothly, which is not being done.

Take me, March 1981, Fort Erie ON: Near fatal female offender rape: My babies watched as I lay on the floor covered in vomit, urine and feces: Three days I lay there. What she did was borderline legal.

Words? Today's words are all about excusing such women and punishing men like me. The situation for the male survivor is getting worse, not better. For us with female offenders, the situation is getting DANGEROUSLY worse.

You see the problem? Probably not. THAT is part of the problem!

Words of 'love' which are really words of hate just make the whole situation worse and lead to real trouble. If the current social & advocacy situation continues, it will lead to violence, probably civil war. The whole thing is DUMB!

There's nothing here which is not fixable if people would just throw aside their sexism. Sadly, people grasp unto their sexism like it is a lifeline. How VERY sad.

Mrs Steele: The aformentioned men's movement is clearly happy to eat its own. Most of men who make up this movement ignore human psycology, know nothing of politics, and think that history does not repeat itself ad infinum. They try to silence their more radical supporters in hopes of gaining favor from the masses, when in reality the masses gravitate toward whatever the middle path is. Politics is also filled with compromise. The radical voices allow any movement to place the middle where it wants it to be placed.

The majority of the quisling men in the men's movement do not realise this or just hate the mikees and bobs and mascluinist men too much to care. They even support the imprisonment of these writers and rejoice when your efforts closed one of the websites of those men!

Why even bother with the men's movement, there has never been a successful one as they always eat their own. They are fools of the highest degree.

Let us all laugh at the Yohans and JWs of that movement. They can't even see how much they trip over themselves.

Ms. Steele said, "Actually, Anonymous, I always post under my own name."

She posted under "Robin Steele" and signed the post "Athena Y."

She posts under "Athena Y" in other places. Now she claims she always posts under her "own" name. But she is using at least two names. Once again, feminazi speak with forked tongues.

"How, pray tell, do you know that Bob Allen is his real name?"

His blog says he's available to give speeches, lectures, and discussions in exchange for a small honorarium.

So it's not like he's "hiding out" or anything like that. He's freely and openly willing to appear and give speeches in person regarding the contents of his blog if he's paid to do so.

First of all, I doubt he'd show up if hired to do that and say: "Actually, my name's not Bob Allen, it's Jim Smith".

But even if he did, the fact that he's willing to appear in person to give a speech, lecture, or discussion for anyone who pays him to do so negates your claim that he is hiding "behind anonymity or fake names".

Ceiver,

You've had a chip on your shoulder for at least the last couple months, and I suspect even longer than that.

You've followed me all around the net like a lost puppy saying that you'll sue me, that you've spent money to get rid of me, that you'll reveal my name, basically anything and everything you can possibly come up with to win your childish "power struggle" with me and gain compliance from me.

Honestly you have the maturity of a four-year-old, so I'm going to put things in terms that even a four-year-old can understand:

If you tell Robin Steele or anyone else my real name, I'll tell them yours.

(Being knowledgeable with computers and computer resources, I was able in the last month to trace your IP and email address and find out your real name.)

So buzz off Ceiver and go play with your toys.

PS: Ceiver, everyone in the MRM and pretty much everyone outside of GL, Socon, and Rexpat's blogs knows you're a feminist plant, and have known this for a long time.

It's so obvious it's pretty much not even worth saying, but for the sake of the record it ought to be said explicitly at least once.

If this is true that this device can only be removed by a medical doctor, I ask myself, if women really feel comfortable with that thing in their bodies.

Not really my problem and up to the woman, who decides to use it and is willing to pay for it.

I wonder how to use that, if this woman is married.

I am not a rapist and I am married, my wife will not use that, anyway, why should I care...

I see legal problems however, if the girl is still a minor, does not want to use such a rape-trap and her mother is forcing her to fix it in her vagina.

Tom Leykis, Glenn Sacks, Marc Rudov on Fox News. The Men's movement continues to make its voice known. And without an identifiable Leader it is difficult for its enemies, Radical Gender Feminists to silence its growth. The proliferation of voices on the Web is testament to the growth of the movement. Since the Old media is declining. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulation Newspaper subscriptions continue to decline.

The Major News outlets are losing viewing audience. And data shows 8 of 10 US Adults are online.

This week during Thanksgiving. I was at a Nephew's House for Dinner. With Relatives of My Wife. What was shocking was how many of the Men. Were relating how Co Workers, Friends, College Roomates were going through Divorce. And it was the Women not the Men who were doing the cheating.

My Nephew shocked everyone. By saying if he and J his Wife ever broke up he would Never marry again. He has seen too much negative things with Marriages including amongst his Family, Friends, and Employees.

On the drive back to Dallas. My wife turned to me and said. "He echoes what you are saying. Something in Men's perception of Women in America is changing. I never would have dreamed John would have said such a thing."

Unless Women come to the table. And are willing to compromise and discuss Men's concerns. It will continue to get worse for American Women as a whole. More Men are withdrawing from Women. This trend will accelerate. You cannot ignore reality forever.

Khankrumthebulgar

PS. Robin insults or shaming language has no effect on Men anymore. We are immune to it. We shut down mentally when we hear it. It's akin to a temper tantrum of a two year old. Just a bit of advice.

Khankrumthebulgar: Your nephew saying if he and his Wife ever broke up he would never marry again typifies why, in my opinion, your "movement" is not moving.

Most men do not care about men's rights until they have suffered a perceived injustice, and by then they react out of anger and animosity. They want revenge, or they might just need to vent online, but they are still not interested in organizing and working toward change. All your nephew said was that he would give up, and not try again. This is hardly good news for proponents of men's rights.

The MRA bloggers seem to fall into two groups. There are the old guys, like you, Bob Allen, & Masculist Man. You have generally been hurt, cheated on, demeaned and divorced by a woman. Under the guise of anonymous Internet personas, you rail against feminists, call them "feminazis" and other hateful names, rant about unfair legislation, and feel better that there are others who acknowledge that it's not just you, that you're a victim like them. You never actually DO anything, never meet, organize, lobby, fundraise, etc. You guard your anonymity carefully, lest your ranting spill into the real world. As soon as something in the real world comes along, or you get tired of your repetitious complaints, your blogs goes on "hiatus," as yours, Fred X's, Duncan Idaho'
s, Lord Feverstone's, Irish Antifeminist, etc. all have.

Then there are the young male 18-22 year old college student MRAs who latch on to this Masculist thing because it explains why they can't get a date, why they are thought of as the "creepy guys," why they feel like such outsiders. At first they like the comaraderie & the bravado, but eventually they realize this is going nowhere... these old guys are just ranting, they have no solution but hate, violence or mail order brides. Their hours at the computer have made them more "creepy," more isolated. They realize that this "movement" is just a dress-up game, that no legitimate movement has leaders with silly names like "Masculist Man," names at make the WWF seem erudite. They are left more despondent and alone than ever.

Hate just leads to despair, and branding all but the most submissive women as "feminazis" just further alienates the already alienated young men who mistake your anger for an actual point-of-view.

Robin Steele: The MRA bloggers seem to fall into two groups...

There are many more blogs out on the internet, which is one of the best tools for the communication of the Men's Rights Movement.
Of course feminists do not like this, the network of MRAs is growing and feminists are worried.

You cannot read many of these blogs, as they are not in English, MRA-blogs in Europe are often in German, French, Spanish...

Asian MRA-blogs are in Japanese etc...

MRAs in other countries have problems you are not aware in the USA, like gender specific traffic signs (who pays for that?), early retirement (women retire 10 or more years earlier than men, but receive the same retirement allowance), obligatory military service of many months unpaid for men (while young women refuse even to work 1 week unpaid for elderly care), gender-specific quotas for employment (while women have the right to refuse or even not allowed by law to work overtime on Sunday or nightwork or dangerous work - this creates the salary-gap), men-only punishments in case of illegal prostitution, removal of urinals for men (women cannot piss, while standing), child support only for the mother (children living with the father receive nothing) and so on and so on, missing health care for existing medical problems of men...

Many MRA-issues are legal loopholes, which are widely misused by women, like false rape allegations, divorce to extort money by misuse of domestic violence laws, the right for women to refuse sex to the husband while sleeping with a lover and so on and so on...

In USA it is a different situation, as there are remarkable differences regarding prison sentences, boys as young as 4 y.o. accused for sexual harassment, fathers obligations and fathers rights, military services overseas and coming home handicapped - wife does not want you anymore and gets a divorce and your house, children and savings..., the right to meet a possible foreign wife by internet (IMBRA is an US-unique ridiculous law)- violence by women is also an issue, like child mistreatment...

I think, most Men's Rights Activity is existing because of extremely biased laws in various countries - always to the disadvantage of the man.

Anon, you are an idiot. Shut up. The proper response is not to marry her off to it. It is just a reminder that she got raped.

As for the rapex, it is a bad idea. It is not that the rapist does not deserve to be castrated (any evil arse that can do that, of any sex, deserves it) but it doesn't prevent rape. It just is revenge after the fact. And while some rapist may think twice about raping a girl, others would just rape her with another object. just a though AJL

"...rather than having to resort to razor sharp hooks that could damage them, physically and emotionally, for life?"

Since when did we care about the emotions of armies of rapists?

If rape is "unchallenged" in Africa, wouldn't the nightmare of a mangled penis be the best deterrent? Especially since the product doesn't cause massive and permanent damage so much as crippling... discomfort. It's fitting that the criminal should fear physical harm as much as the victim. The woman can simply tell the attacker that she has one in! Even if it isn't true, he'll think twice! Though I suppose substitute physical and/or sexual violence (forced sodomy, etc.) can then arise...

The best thing is; the existence of this product, advertisement thereof, and resulting widespread controversy and debate... all could be a more powerful rape deterrent than actual distribution and use of it. Brilliant.

Anonymous said...

To annonymous, why ever would a rape victim want to marry the person who raped her? Both people would be happy? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Who would be happy married to someone who raped them.

this is not a torture device, its protection. If someone is going to do something evil such as rape a woman, she should be able to defend herself, and he should get what he deserves. Who ever said RAPE isn't torture??

I'm seriously horrified at what the first poster said. You rather someone get raped than have the rapist get hurt and ultimately be stopped?

I think action should be taken against YOU for YOUR mideval way of thinking. I'm disgusted.

A.) Isn't RAPE the same? Brutal and Barbaric with no place in civilized society?
B.) The society being targeted is not at all civilized, hell, western society isn't civilized either.

"Isn't it better to fight violence with words, with enforcement, to create a societal taboo against those who advocate rape, to skewer them with words of love rather than having to resort to razor sharp hooks that could damage them, physically and emotionally, for life?"
If words were enough, "No" would be an effective prevention.
What is lacking is Respect and Discipline, and if a rapist is willing to forgo reputation, and physically and emotionally scar, for life, their would be vitim, they deserve all that befalls them, they are no longer people, they have moved under that classification and become monsters.
