The Eloquence of Cowardice

It's a modern miracle, no less. Just as 2,000 years ago at this precise time a saviour emerged to lead the benighted world of men into the light of a new and better tomorrow; so today, at this crucial time for the men's movement, just as we are lost and floundering, a modern heroine emerges to do the same for us.

So all hail to our new spiritual leader and (self-)anointed special one: Robin, woman of steele. Or is that woman of steal? No matter.
"paul parmenter" on AntiMisandry.com

Earlier today I glanced through a Robin Steele-bashing session at the AntiMisandry.com men's forum. Someone named Drex, whom I picture as one of those Geico Caveman, gave me another Archie Bunkerism for my collection with his comment "Robin Steele and her type are the feminist infiltrators giving feminism an extra leash of life by trying to emasculate men, reduce them to "victims" that they can handle... and attempting to control and herd the MRM towards statist (feminist) ideals."

An extra "leash of life"? Thanks, Drex. I needed a good laugh!

Another treat awaited. I was simultaneously amused and stunned when I read paul parmenter's sarcastic tribute (posted above) that turned out to be about me. I was amused because it was a well-paced, well-written set-up. I was stunned because "well-written" rarely comes to mind when reading on a men's rights forum, where intelligibility and any use of punctuation is noteworthy. My momentary optimism was destined, alas, to be momentary.

After that promising opening, Mr. Parmenter slid neck-deep into the sophomoric, predictable sarcasm and the warm, comfortable rhetorical slop that MRAs wallow in together:

"Just listen to Robin. She has all the answers."
"We can all learn from this most prominent MRA who has given us... brilliant solutions."
"Firstly, we are all stupid. Believe it. The great Robin says so. Secondly, we are all lazy. Again, a pronouncement from on high that none may deny. Thirdly..."
"So here is what we have to do. Follow Robin, and believe."

Then Mr P. launched into and attacked my ideas for activating the Men's Rights Movement, mocking each one, point by point. It suddenly became clear to me that Drex was right: The MRM has been infiltrated by saboteurs who were emasculating men and making them victims. He just misidentified the infiltrators.

Could you identify a saboteur?
Think about it. If someone were out to enslave you, break your will, convince you that you were powerless, what would they say to you? Would they be the person goading you into action, criticizing your passivity, urging you to get organized, active and effective? Or would it be the person criticizing the call to action, telling you that it won't work, ridiculing ideas for action but not proposing any alternative whatsoever?

Would the saboteur be the one making you feel uncomfortable about sitting around, or would the saboteur be the one telling you it's ok to stay put, relax, that it's not worth trying because you might fail?

Would the saboteur preach HOPE, that change is possible?

Or would the saboteur preach DESPAIR and fear of failure?

How does one effectively preach DESPAIR?
By discrediting any call to action as futile, and never proposing an alternative, implying that there is none.

You preach despair with sarcasm and cynicism, by ridiculing action, like this:
Write (yes, write) to media outlets. They are all just gagging to hear from you, and will love to listen to your views. They will give your opinions great prominence. If you do it right, in Robin's magical way, they will fall over themselves to publish you. Your letters and articles will burst onto the front pages; you can get slots on talk shows and radios. Politicians will suddenly sit up and take notice, realising the errors of their ways. Just ask, you fools. The world awaits your message with baited breath. No fear of being ignored, censored or ridiculed. Those nice people would never do that. They just wouldn't. They all love men.

Then we can use this thing called the internet. It's a wonderful tool, if only we stupid idiots could learn how to use it properly. Don't write about how hard done by you are; that is not the idea at all. Use it instead to make contact with others, set up networks and links, and generate a huge traffic that spreads the word far and wide. You never thought of that one, did you? See how badly you need Robin the Great to guide you.
But most of all, you preach despair by instilling the FEAR OF FAILURE. (No fear of being ignored, censored or ridiculed.) You tell men who have been hurt in the past that if they go out on a limb, if they make an all-out effort they will probably fail like before and be humiliated once again. How do you preach despair? Like this:

So all give thanks to Robin. Just one more little, teensy weensy question, o magnificent leader.

What do we do when we discover your ideas are all just a heap of bollocks and fall flat on their face?

You would get up, dust yourself off, return to the fight wiser and with greater resolve... Rather than state the obvious, I would instead misquote Henry David Thoreau* "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them."

For me, I'm more afraid of going to the grave with the song still in me than making an effort and failing.

But that's just me. Robin Steele. Saboteur.

* Thoreau never actually said the last part, but it's too good to sacrifice for accuracy.

An Increasingly Prominent "MRA"
Attention all and sundry: Did YOU know that Robin Steele is an "increasingly prominent figure in the men's rights movement?"

Indeed, she says so herself. And if she says so herself, I am absolutely certain that it MUST be true. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever. After all, she said it herself!

But don't believe it just because I say it. Get it straight from the source, here, in Robin's very own words:

http://womanofsteele.blogspot.com/20...upid-lazy.html

We shall of course look forward to great things from Robin. We know that Robin is deeply respectful of our traditions, and fully "up to speed" with the established history, culture and discourse of our community. And we are confident that Robin will assimilate gracefully into this evolving, organic tapestry - in a manner that will do her credit!

Nice one. Interesting comments too.

Good on her. Good on you.

Can't say too much.

Alter your attitude and you can alter your life.

If you think you can, you can. And if you think you cant, you're right!

Patience is not a virtue, it is a waste of time.

Re: An Increasingly Prominent "MRA"
Robin Steele and her type are the feminist infiltrators giving feminism an extra leash of life by trying to emasculate men, reduce them to "victims" that they can handle (as the feminists also reduced women to victim status) and attempting to control and herd the MRM towards statist (feminist) ideals.

There is good reason why many mrm's seem to lack intelligence..

That is because many of them do lack intelligence..

If they were smart, they would be able to navigate any social system to their advantage..

Dumb/ineffective people love the state, its the only hope they have of getting resources by using force of a greater aggressor with a monopoly on violence..

Some intelligent people love the state too, as it enables them to wield personal power..

The most valid MRM strategy so far is the MGTOW strategy. And i personally think that even that is in need of some refinement..

As is any MRM strategy that uses feminist tools for men..

The MRM is self-limiting and also self destructive as it only really exists as an opposition to feminism..

Since feminism is an entirely state-dependant philosophy, if the MRM wants to succeed for men it will need to convince the masses that the state must not be used as a tool of gender warfare..

Unfortunately, the feminists have defined the MRM agenda and the statist MRA's are accepting it as valid..

Bad move..

Re: An Increasingly Prominent "MRA"
It seems to me that Robin is either

a) Trying to discredit the MRM.
b) Trying to coerce the MRM in utilising a more contructed approach.

Some might see the second option as a more 'feminised' way forward. Personally, I would have no trouble moving towards peaceable protest, discussion and activism, providing that our aims are completely uncompromised with regard to ending misandry in popular culture, dv support and legislation.

We have solid ideals now - we're not going to become the mythopoetic mens movement part two.

Re: An Increasingly Prominent "MRA"
I genuinely believe Robin means well ("oh, surprise, surprise" Do I hear some say). But it's true.

I do not agree with her entirely, but I won't go into this here. I know this is a subject, like Mikee USA, that makes some uncomfortable.

As for Robin being "a prominent figure in the mrm", I think that's true enough. If she is a nonentity, then she has sure figured in a lot of posts here for someone who is of no interest to the movement.

Lots of folk mean well, and no doubt many feminists mean well, but life is never that simple is it?

Most arguments are solved and won by the side with the biggest threats..

If it was any other way, we would not have nuclear detterrants and female mouths at our disposal..

Just listen to Robin. She has all the answers. We can all learn from this most prominent MRA who has given us a brief supercilious look, instantly diagnosed all our faults, and come up with brilliant solutions. She could have just sneered at us, concluded we were a useless bunch of losers, and passed on; but she didn't. Well, she did for a moment, but has now come back unto us. Hallelujah. Now beginneth the lessons of Robin. So shut up, listen and learn.

Firstly, we are all stupid. Believe it. The great Robin says so. Secondly, we are all lazy. Again, a pronouncement from on high that none may deny. Thirdly, we are all just a bunch of whingers. Of course we are; I see it all now.

So here is what we have to do. Follow Robin, and believe.

We just learn to take a few small steps at a time, like the babies we all are (never thought of that, did we?) Start with defining a clear and obvious cause, a case of clear discrimination against men that everyone will recognise and agree. Then all push the point together. You make a good point, Christianj; although Robin has only officially been an MRA for a couple of days it seems. That is, if I understand the situation corretly, for the description on Robin's blog says that she is now a Men's Rights Activist. My apologies, Robin, if I have got this wrong.

If this is correct, Christianj, then maybe we will see over time what Robin's views on this matter are.

I am willing to agree with some here that Robin might really be only attempting to get into the MRM and defeat us from inside, like one of Drex's fifth columnists.

But is anybody willing to agree with me that there is just as much a possibility that she is genuine? Being an equalitarian myself I know how difficult it is to join one side. I was an MRA for years but thought of myself as an equality campaigner. I thought that if I joined the MRM I would be seen as anti-female, I now know that this is nonsense.

I know how difficult a choice it will have been for Robin, and for an equalitarian to make this choice she must really believe in what she is doing. And I am sure that she has done so because she wants to help restore some balance.

It would suggest that despite the comments that some make about her, we have still shown Robin enough for her to understand that ours is a very just cause, and she wishes to be a part of it. So are we going to now prove that we are not the cause she thought, and make her an outcast.

I know she comes across as a bit haughty, but so did I at first (I'll pretend I didn't hear that comment that I still do). It's just hard to see how it really is when looking from the outside.

We have a choice.

Take up our clubs and chase robin away, maybe into the ranks of our enemies. Or give her the benefit of the doubt.

We can only make this choice as individuals. You all perhaps know what my position is.

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,

Everyone. I have ironclad proof that Robin Steele does NOT mean well.

Robin Steele is feminist Athena Y.

She is also eMasculist.

She is trying to attack and lead astray the MRM. Don't fall for it!

Soon I will have on my blog an expose proving that Steele is truly a misandric feminist.

Anyway, it doesn't matter either way to me. I have already forgiven any deceit whatever direction it may have came from; although I might be a little less trusting in the future.

Don't forget these other words of Robin's,the true face of Robin Steele:

aka Masculist Man

DATING ADVICE FOR MEN'S RIGHTS ACTIVISTS (Guest Post)

Something outrageous happened today when I checked my post comments! There, among the daily slop bucket of illiterate drivel ("Steele is hate!" "Feminazis should be impaled!" "the tied has turned!") an intelligent comment inexplicably appeared. Upon completing the first paragraph, which contained no spelling errors, was made up of complete, intelligible sentences, and indicated the writer Phil Hubb had actually read my words, I wept. It had been so long.

So here it is, in it's entirety:

GUEST POST: Dating Advice for MRAs by Phil Hubb

The funniest thing just happened, I came over here from a men's rights blog expecting to be grossly offended by rabid misandry and got my eyes opened instead. Ms Steele's critique of the defects imbedded within much of the men's movement (or at least the online manifestation of it) was very clear headed and sincere. Now I'm sure if I read into past entries I'll find something offensive, but for a moment it reminded me of the discourse my wife and I have shared since we first met.

She was stridently feminist and I was completely and unashamedly in defense of men. We both immediately recognized that we were two sides of the same coin in a world full of paper currency. That we were both brilliant radicals in a world dominated by lazy moderates. When we met it was like walking into a room where everyone was dressed in earthtones. But I was wearing fluorescent blue and she was decked out in fluorescent pink. Naturally, we were immediately attracted to one another and though our fluorescent colors may have faded some through years of wash and wear we can still enjoy a healthy difference of opinion now and then.

It's ironic that for all our heated arguments, radicals on either end of this gender-political spectrum have more in common with one another than we do with that drab blob of society who compose the majority. We have our fundamentally radical mindsets and intellectual curiosity. We have our strong sense of purpose our idealism.

I know this isn't some "dating advice" blog, but I'll say it anyway. You unmarried, heterosexual radicals out there, if you're looking for a mate, you might want to drop your ideological shield long enough to approach the one wearing the opposite (thus complementary) fluorescent colors. Because different sides of the same coin are still the same coin, imvho.

I know none of this is very germane to Ms Steele's post, but if I just gave a couple of lonely hearted fellow radicals hope for their future personal relationships, it was worth it.

Fire at will! LOL!!

Are Men's Rights Activists Stupid, Lazy, or Just Both?

I live and work in a fast-paced, confrontational world that doesn't afford me the luxury of mincing words or sugar-coating the truth. But as an increasingly prominent figure in the Men's Rights Movement, I try to be patient with those who move and think a little slower, especially the Canadians. I pray for patience but sometimes can't suppress my candor. This exchange on a recent post ("Exposing Feminism" Exposes a Rational Idea) is an example of why the Men's Rights Movement has no discernable Movement, is acheiving no additional Rights, and has failed to attract the interest or respect even from Men.

Canadian Men's Rights Activist JW Asks RS for Ideas on Fixing the MRM:
Says JW: "Women may well know that men are in trouble, that doesn't change the actions or the attitudes: It also doesn't translate into any willingness to take action to fix the problem.... "Men are abusive" "Men are deadbeats" "Men are ..." ...It's like that pretty well everywhere. It is an attitude problem of massive scale and it is getting worse. How does one change it?
"It is simple to say that's not right, it is HARD to fix a that's-not-right! In this case it is getting harder every minute. Many words ... a great many words: All saying "I do not know what to do!""

Robin Steele explain what can be done. Pretty obvious stuff, at least to RS:
RS: "This is not an unprecedented situation - or even anything new. It requires the same non-violent, educational and communication effort undertaken by every group that feels it's being treated unfairly and pushed for change, including the civil rights movement, the women's rights movement, and others. I think a step back and a deaf ear to all this anti-feminist nonsense reveals that it's not nearly as difficult as many other causes for a few reasons.

"It's simple, but not easy. First, you take baby steps. Create an image for the movement as a group of reasonable, caring people trying to fix an imbalance that hurts EVERYONE. Pick some obvious problems for starters, the ones easiest to gain a consensus for. Create a reasonable, documented and compelling case for change. Plan and execute email campaigns, coordinated blog networks that praise and criticize those who have something to gain or lose (politicians). Praise the places and people who are doing it right.
"Connect on men's rights issues everyone can relate to. We all have men we love and care about, whether sons, brothers, uncles, fathers, etc. And many people have seen the unfairness first or secondhand. The family structure is in an upheaval and we're just sorting out how to cope with a whole new ball game. Few will dispute that children need a healthy relationship with fathers and mothers.

"Use the Internet. MRAs complain that Feminists have funding, and they don't. Anybody notice that we now have at our disposal - nearly for free - the most powerful communication tool ever available? Any one with the most basic abilities can create a blog for free and have their words, images or video visible around the world in seconds. Email communication is an amazingly powerful tool that's practically free."

The Response? "We already did all that. Didn't work. Why tell us the obvious when we'd rather whine?"

jw said: "Robin! All of the things you speak of ARE being done!... now we have to deal with people writing hate campaigns in the newspapers!...How do we get around people like you telling us the OBVIOUS? Telling us to do the things we are already doing? I don't know!"

Are Men's Rights Activists Stupid, Lazy or Just Both?
RS: "You have NOT already waged an effective communications campaign. You have NOT already done so for years. If you had, you wouldn't be in the situation you're in.

"There's a self-defeating "dichotomy" (for lack of better word) with men that even you seem to be stymied by. I mean this as an observation, not an insult. You simultaneously are admittedly unsuccessful at achieving your goals, and at a loss for what to do, but also have an arrogant, know-it-all attitude that keeps you from considering helpful ideas.

"Your statement All of the things you speak of ARE being done! pinpoints a key problem. Yes, Men have a website and have for years(Angry Harry). Women have a website (Feministing.com) that's three years younger. Does that mean they've done the same thing? The women's site has 7 times the traffic, thousands more comments, tons of links to it, active and lively participation, and generates funds. It has power. Read my Angry Harry vs. Feministing Part 1 , and Angry Harry vs. Feministing Part 2 and compare the two approaches. Perhaps you'll see why Men's Rights Activists will always lose out to Women's Rights Activists.
"Robin's advice: Try taking a step back and seeing this with new eyes. You say: "...now we have to deal with people writing hate campaigns in the newspapers!"

"How is YOUR letter writing campaign going? Those stories are a GOOD OPPORTUNITY because they give you an opportunity to respond, disprove, expose with a campaign of well-crafted letters continually sent to the newspaper, with comments posted to the newspaper's website, with call-ins and appearances on talk-radio shows (always eager to fill air time), with protests at the newspaper's offices, with campaigns refuting columnists sexist views and demands for their removal if necessary, with your own blog and email campaigns.

"Stop looking for a magic bullet. there's no easy way, but there is a way. Learn how others accomplish their goals. The NRA is a very male organization and they've been able to enact and control major legislation despite millions of compelling reasons for their initiatives to be defeated. Learn how those bastards did it in the early days.

"What JW and many MRAs are really saying is Robin! We have already done a half-assed job of those things for years and it's not working! Why tell us the obvious when it's obvious we're too lazy to do it?"

Lary Holland: IS IT REALLY JUDGE EDWARD DWYER'S FAULT?

From IS IT REALLY JUDGE EDWARD DWYER'S FAULT?

Thanks Robin Steele (Woman of Steele) for the additional coverage on the issues in Maryland. I also enjoyed and agreed with a statement that she recently made about the "Men's Rights Movement."

As those who actually read my words before calling for my violent, agonizing death know, I believe there is a serious imbalance in the family court system that puts men at a disadvantage, an imbalance that could be corrected if this MRM could graduate from the 5th grade.

I don't normally give my self a title of Men's Rights Activist or Father's Rights Activist. It seems to be something that others assign to me because of my complaints overcasting the family court system in general. I tend to shift more toward... CONTINUE READING

Also in Good News to be Released Today, Lary Holland reports:
Our efforts were successful today in Federick County, Maryland. A showing of common-sense and fellowship occurred today. Working together for positive social change and to significantly affect public policy.

I'm looking forward to his report of what happened in Maryland where so much tragedy has occured.

"Exposing Feminism" Exposes a Rational Idea

Exposing Feminism had a good post called Feminists! How to QUASH the Mens Rights Movement!

Talk to us. Reason with us and let us reason with you.
Acknowledge what feminism has done to the detriment of society and men in general. Address these things and the concerns of men everywhere.

You don’t even have to submit any of your pro female concerns or freedoms! You just have to take ours in addition to them!
Do this, and both Feminism and the Mens Rights Movement will have no real reason to exist in their present forms!
We could start a new movement together! Perhaps we could call it something pretty like ‘The New Humanist Movement’!
Wouldn’t that be nice?
That’s all there is to it. Easy when you know how,
eh?

So, what do you think?

Here's what I think:

It's a great idea... why not start it now?

The truth is that you MRA guys are out in left field with your paranoid preoccupation with the ruthless Feminist Bogeywoman who wants to hang all men's penises from her belt as trophies. If she exists at all, she is marginal at best with no real effect on anything but your imaginations.

In the real world, the vast majority of women don't go around considering themselves Feminists. I don't. Most likely your mother doesn't, nor do your sisters, your girlfriend and/or your wife. Women are as much - or more- in competition with each other as we are with men.

Exposing Feminism is on the right track with this post. We are all people... selfish, egocentric, suspicious, petty, vindictive but also loving, faithful, giving and forgiving people. Men and women, we want the same things... to be appreciated, to be loved, to be valued, to be admired, to grow old with someone who makes us feel good about ourselves and who we want to enrich with our love.

These MRA guys act like men and women are adversaries pitched in a battle against one another. No one can win such a battle. The best feeling possible is when a man and a woman are able to face the difficulties of life together.

Who wins the battle when a woman is allowed to use the court system for revenge, drive a man to the point where he kills his entire family in a park on Thanksgiving Day? Do women win? Do men? The only way to fix that problem is to attack it together, as families, as fellow citizens, as Christians, as community members, etc. with the goal to be harmony, justice, and balance.

What do you think? Leave a comment.

Was Mass Murderer Marc Lepine Gay?

December 6 marks the 18th anniversary of "the Montreal Massacre," the day a heavily armed and mentally ill young man murdered fourteen women and wounded ten women and four men at the École Polytechnique, an engineering school affiliated with the Université de Montréal.

According to reports, Lépine had been quiet, shy, ill at ease around women, and had no known girlfriends. He tended to boss women around and show off his knowledge in front of them. He spoke out to others about his dislike of feminists, career women and women in traditionally male occupations, such as the police force.

The Montreal Massacre became a catalyst for both pro-feminist and pro-gun control issues in Canada, and is credited with the Canadian ban on assault-type weapons. Rumors have persisted that Lepine may actually have been a conflicted homosexual, a fact suppressed by those who wanted to use Lepine as an example of male violence against women.

On a recent Robine Steele post about Marc Lepine, an Anonymous visitor left a comment that seemed to back up these earlier rumors:

I grew up with Marc Lepine. The real story that's been hushed up is that he was gay. Those who knew him and his family were well aware of this, and we told reporters at the time and later. For political reasons, both sides suppressed this fact. The feminists didn't want this coming out because it muddied their domestic violence agenda. Men's right's advocates and anti-feminists didn't (and don't) want to admit their poster boy and hero was a latent homosexual, as many of them are. This is really a Gay Rights issue that's been effectively closeted.

This commenters statement is unconfirmed, as are the many rumors that have circulated ever since the terrible tragedy occurred, that Marc Lepine's rampage was set in motion after he was rebuffed by a male lover who had decided to reunite with his girlfriend. His suicide note had reportedly included this admission in French, but was edited from the public version, perhaps by a translator.

What do you think? Was Marc Lepine gay? Would it have mattered?
